TPi appoints expert in public transport and environment as new office managerNeil Anderson joins TPi from the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive where he has covered a wide range of activities including strategic planning, modelling, tendered bus services and transport policy. Neil whose experience includes a spell as deputy director of the Sheffield First Partnership – Sheffield’s Local Strategic Partnership – will now lead TPi’s office in Leeds. “My wide experience with the Executive – including a period as a bus driver – gave me an excellent grounding in all aspects of public transport”, he said. “This has been complemented by experience of developing national, regional and local policy. “I hope to be working with businesses and organisations to help them understand better the issues of reducing their carbon footprint and in achieving cost savings”. Neil’s practical transport experience is extensive, covering the use of complementary services such as Wheels to Work, community transport, taxis and Shopmobility, as well as conventional public transport. He added: “Throughout my career I have enjoyed new challenges, including managing large IT projects, developing service database and registration systems, introducing business planning and managing a Best Value programme. I look forward to using my experience with TPi and its clients. TPi Managing Director Alan Bailes said: “Neil has a long-standing interest in the environment and has used this to initiate policies to tackle the transport contribution to carbon emissions and global warming and we are glad that he will be able to use this experience to broaden TPi’s work in this area”.
